The REAL ID Act and Impact for Washington Residents

The REAL ID Act, passed by Congress in 2005, requires minimum security standards for license issuance and production and prohibits Federal agencies from accepting for certain purposes driver's licenses and identification cards from states not meeting the Act's minimum standards. This includes the boarding of federally regulated commercial aircraft as well as entry into federal facilities and military bases.

Beginning October 1, 2020, you will need a Washington State Enhanced Driver's License or another form of accepted ID, such as a passport, to fly from Spokane International Airport. For additional details visit http://www.id2020wa.com.
