Felts Field Neighbor Day: Saturday, May 30, 2026

Join us for an extra-special Neighbor Day event, as we celebrate aviation past and present and pay tribute to Felts Field icon Capt. Larry Tobin.
In 1890, the Tobin family homesteaded land on what is now Felts Field after it was deeded to them by President Harrison. Decades later, a young Larry swept hangars in exchange for airplane rides — a simple trade that sparked a lifelong devotion to aviation. In 1966, Larry began a 31-year career with Trans World Airlines, piloting the 707, 727, MD80, 747, 757, and 767. Known as the “Mayor of Felts Field,” he remained a constant presence at the airfield, restoring eight Stearman aircraft in retirement, walking away from a catastrophic engine failure in the Columbia Gorge, and earning the prestigious Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award in 2017.
Neighbor Day 2026 honors Larry’s legacy — and the enduring spirit of flight that continues at Felts Field today.
